Static Margin acts like a spring ($C_m\alpha$), pulling the nose back to level.Damping ($C_mq$) acts like friction, resisting rotation speed. Low damping causes oscillations to persist (Phugoid/Short Period). High Static Margin makes the aircraft stiffer (harder to displace, faster return).
